Absolutely beautiful Buckingham Palace Tour. Of course, the location itself is wow, but our tour guide Michael was even more wow. Very funny, engaging, and easy to talk to, with answers to literally any question you ask him. He even snapped a photo of me while the Changing of the Guard was going on. That was actually my favorite part. My daughter and I tried to make them laugh, but of course we didn’t succeed. Still, a super fun experience! We saw the Foot Guard, and next time I might try to rig it so we see the Horse Guard.
I really enjoyed this Buckingham Palace Tour. The guide did a fantastic job of presenting everything to us. Plus, the artifacts were astounding. The Royal Collection in particular; I don’t think I’ve ever seen such intricate handiwork in my life. What detail went into all those creations! The Sèvres porcelain was so elaborate, I was afraid to break it just by looking at it. I also greatly appreciated the skip-the-line tickets. There was a line of at least 40 people waiting to get in, so it was nice to bypass all of that.

WATCH THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD CEREMONY
Before you enter Buckingham Palace, you’ll see the Changing of the Guard ceremony. This is when the New Guard takes over from the Old Guard. The handover is done with precise choreography and picture-perfect steps. At the same time, a band will be playing military music and popular tunes to help the sentries keep pace. First, the Old Guard arrives and is inspected for duty. Then the Old Guard hands over the keys to Buckingham Palace to the New Guard. Finally, the New Guard takes their post. Depending on the day, you’ll see either the Foot Guard or the Horse Guard.
DISCOVER THE LAVISH STATE ROOMS
Your tour guide will then lead you into Buckingham Palace itself, taking you to the State Rooms. These rooms are richly decorated and truly reflect the royal family’s prestige. They were mainly used for special circumstances, either royal ceremonies or entertaining guests. For example, the White Drawing Room which was used by the Queen for small audiences. The room is full of gilded ceilings and glittering chandeliers. You’ll also see The Throne Room, where two grand thrones sit in a room full of extravagant red and gold decorations.

As your guide will teach you, the Royal Collection is the largest private art collection in the world. And at Buckingham Palace, you’ll see some of its treasures. - The Changing of the Guard ceremony is subject to weather conditions. As such, it might be cancelled. If that happens, you will receive a walking tour of Westminster City instead.
- On days when there is no Changing of the Foot Guard, there are alternatives. You will either see the Changing of the Horse Guard or enjoy a walking tour of Westminster City.
- It’s a good idea to wear comfortable shoes, as the walking tour is two and a half hours long.
- Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed during the Buckingham Palace Tour.
- All visitors are required to carry a photo ID, either a passport or a national identity card.
