Enjoyed every second of the tour

Wasn’t 100% sure on this tour because I saw it was 5 hours long and was worried about getting tired. In the end, I wished it had gone on for longer! Ashley was a fantastic guide, a literal well of knowledge for every sight we visited. She kept everyone’s energy up, and really brought all the stops to life. I think I could literally spend the entire day listening to her. And you honestly really do see all of London’s most important spots. It’s a good option if you’re only in the city for a short time. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere and great sightseeing

I don’t think the tour would have worked so well if there were more people than there were. Our group only had 10 people, which was perfect. Charlotte could really answer everyone’s questions and keep everyone’s attention. I really liked that small group atmosphere. We were lucky and saw the Changing of the Guard - that was personally my favorite. But in general everything you see is very impressive. Big Ben was also a highlight, and Charlotte's commentary really brought everything to life.

DESCRIPTION

London Walking Tour

View the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace

Your first stop is Buckingham Palace, where you’ll see the Changing of the Guard ceremony. This is the marching ritual for the New Guard relieving the Old Guard. The process is done with perfect choreography and accompanying military music. As you watch, your guide will explain the history behind the ceremony.

Walk all around Westminster

Head east and start exploring the area that’s been home to England’s government since the 1200s. Westminster is a hub of political and cultural activity. For example, you’ll see Downing Street - the official residence and offices of the UK’s Prime Minister. The Houses of Parliament are also in the same area, housing both the House of Commons and House of Lords. And, as your guide will teach you, the clock tower Big Ben is actually part of the Houses of Parliament! Big Ben is just a nickname; its official name is Elizabeth Tower. Right next door, you’ll see Parliament Square, a large green space hosting all of the flags of the United Kingdom. It also has all 56 flags of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Discover the London Bridge area

After Westminster, continue east to explore the London Bridge district. Of course, one of your first stops is London Bridge itself. The structure is an important crossing between the north and south of the river Thames. The bridge used to be the only Thames road crossing downstream of Kingston upon Thames! Nearby you’ll see The Tower of London, a huge castle complex with a 1,000-year history. In contrast, your guide will also show you The Shard. This is a modern building completed in 2012, and also the tallest building in the UK at 309 meters. Other tour highlights include Borough Market, a charming, bustling market selling specialty foods. And of course the tour wouldn’t be complete without seeing Tower Bridge. This iconic suspension bridge has two small towers on it!

Sit down, relax, and plan your next visit

Now that you’ve seen all London’s sights from the outside, sit down and think about what interested you most. Is there anywhere you’d like to explore from the inside? That could be your next stop!
